About Mutisya Education Foundation

This Foundation was formed in memory of Mr Ancent Mutisya, a remarkable teacher from rural Machakos Kenya whose lifelong work spanning for over 3 decades from 70s, 80s, 90s transformed the educational landscape for marginalized and minority school children. While teaching in over 6 school districts, he walked long distances to reach remote schools ensuring learners received quality education even with very limited resources. He stood firmly against retrogressive cultural practices that denied vulnerable children, especially girls, the opportunity to nurture their talents through education and sports. His unwavering commitment opened academic doors that seemed permanently closed to many talented students from economically challenging backgrounds, and it's through his tireless efforts that 3 founders of this foundation managed to travel from rural Africa to be student athletes in USA universities and thereafter pursued higher education. Rooted in his values of compassion, equity, and empowerment, this foundation honors his inspiring legacy by partnering with local public schools where he once taught, to offer needy students with the resources and support they need to excel in both academics and athletics. Any support no matter how small it is, makes a huge difference to the lives of these deserving students. Together we can make a difference!
